Joomla & Extension update service
Install Joomla Series/Version Maintenance Release Updates from £45.00
Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 update service. Within each series/version release of Joomla there will also be what we call maintenance/release updates. This is an update that is released by Joomla (or 3rd party extension developer) that fixes bugs and security vulnerabilities and sometimes has small enhancements, within that version release.
Example of maintenance update version numbering would be Joomla 3.10.1 to Joomla 3.10.4 or Joomla 4.0.1 to 4.0.4
If for some reason you have missed a couple of release updates you can usually install the latest update without having to install all the updates in between, but it is always best to check. Installing maintenance updates is normally straight forward, but always make a backup and always check that all 3rd party extensions are up to date and compatible.
Our Joomla update service is only available to our development and/or hosting customers. If you have a website that wasn't developed by us we can still help you but you will need to transfer your hosting to us. Hosting is available from only £10.00 per month.
Migrating from Joomla 1.0, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 or 2.5 to Joomla 4 (or Joomla 3)
Moving from older versions of Joomla will involve building a new Joomla 3 website and then migrating, where possible, your old data into your new website. It is not possible to do a simple upgrade. For this reason if you have a small website it is usually easier and cheaper to build a new website. If however you have a large website you may need to migrate that data.
Some reasons for migration
-
You have hundreds or thousands of articles and/or users
-
You have a online shop with hundreds or thousands of products, orders etc
-
You have a large photo gallery and it will take too long to add all the photos again
-
You have a large forum and you don't want to lose all the old posts
I have extensive experience migrating old Joomla 1.0, 1.5 and other old versions of Joomla websites to both Joomla 3 and Joomla 4. Many projects have included migrating thousands of pages and users and various extensions such as Virtuemart. Although there are migration scripts available to migrate some of the most popular extensions many do not. In most cases we can still help by creating a custom script to bring the data into your new Joomla website. In fact, it is also possible to migrate data from any database driven solution into Joomla.
The process for migrating from an old version of Joomla to Joomla 4 can be complicated and depending on the amount of data and extensions it can often cost as much or more than building a new website.
